A customer just sent this photo in of their installed Dragon Motif 3D sculpture plaque (4ft. diameter, $850). Check, not precisely an installation, rather, sitting on the siding of their entry with succulents. The antique bronze patina of the paint complements the bright earth toned fat plants and creates a bold statement to guests on arrival. The dragon motif continues on motifs carved into the handmade furniture purchased from Rosewood House, a design furniture boutique down the hill on Broadway (between 26th and 27th). Back to the customer’s installation in Forestland, Oakland: I like it, great job! Thank you for sharing.

Asianweek Festival SF 2010

Asianweek’s annual cultural festival goes down on the 15th of May, 2010. Friends, Kimonomomo, will be featured as one of the festival vendors, with the hip silk obi messenger bags and clutch bags.

Fortuny Concubine Chinese Lantern

For sale is an original, circa 1950s, new old stock NOS, handmade ceiling or wall mount lantern, octagon eight sides, two level, made of wood and opaque white plastic panels. Commonly known as a Chinese paper lantern, silk fortuny, Venetian or concubine or concubina lamp. The lantern has two wood spanners inside the lamp that allow it to be mounted (hardware not included) and involves a basic D.I.Y ability to install. Using a 7-watt CFL fixture with the lamp is both environmentally friendly, economical and allows for a mood light since all sides are opaque. Shipping is $38 CONUS.

Can you spot the lucky bats and the longevity character motifs throughout the open work of the lamp?

Optional: a few models were embellished with handpainted natural motifs on the plastic panels.

Dragon x Phoenix flight fight wall mount medallion. Raised epoxy surface hand laid, then hand painted in traditional national colors of greens, blues, yellows, red. You can really see the cross-over lines in the close up photos. Handcut plywood, wall-mount or ceiling-mount. Genuine Asian art from Taipei, Taiwan 1950s. Extremely limited quantities.
